What does ISO 9001:2008 Mean for Jihan Freighters?
The company has joined international accreditation for Quality Management systems.
The Road to ISO Certification
Jihan Freighters Limited embarked on a process that will see it acquire the International Organization of Standardization certificate 9001:2008 also known as ISO 9001:2008 in March 2010 and had been programmed to take one year and meant to position JFL to international standards in customer service delivery. The company had contracted AfriAviation Solutions Limited, consultants in Quality Management systems.
The establishment of quality management systems was meant to be an advantage to position Jihan Freighters Limited position both in service delivery to its many customers as well as being able to implement its various programmes in an efficient, effective and transparent manner.
Through wise counsel of AfriAviation Solutions, the ISO 9001:2008 Quality policy and procedures manuals for Jihan Freighter Limited were documented and handed over to the Director and steering Committee members for comments, adoption and implementation.
The process started by training senior members of staff including the directors, staff awareness to the requirements of the Quality management systems to ISO 9001:2008.
Finally, training for Internal Auditors took place. The internal Auditors were to carry out audits to oversee the effectiveness and readiness of the quality management systems in preparation for certification.
Internal Audits where carried out by Jihan Freighters trained auditors on the ISO requirements. Three Audits were carried out in order to assess the effectiveness of the established quality management system and in preparation for an external, Audit by a certification body.
Certification Audit is expected between April-June 2011.
